Dear Divas,

Glancing at the new lines,
the first thing I noticed was the variety in
THE CROPPED PANT
This fashionable look
can end just below the knee or just above the ankle
and calls attention to the details-- cut outs, ribbon trim,
bindings and insets. Little eye-catchers that make you say
How Nice!

Fenini of California has matching sets in cotton with big carved button-trimmed tops and ribbon detail in both top and crop. Non-wrinkle, washable, ribbed or waffle weaves in colors including, saffron, and, would you believe, "bubble blue?" Even if you accidentally call those pants pedal pushers a la the 50s, the Diva staff will understand. After all, if Rafael Nadal wears them, they must be au courant.

Diva is also showing my favorite Patricia Farley abstract art-to-wear swing shirts. The multiple bold batik-dyed colors are blended on 100% cool linen and then brushed with hand-painted shapes. This shirt attracts glances by itself or as a light jacket over a Lynn Ritchie tank top. Goes everywhere Spring through Fall to coordinate with Chalou contrasting solid-colored pants.

Wendy found the Kleën ("clay-en") seperates at Fashion Week, and couldn't resist the silk and linen washable sets with matching trim on the top and on the ankle-length wide-leg pants. The flamingo color is HOT, especially when accessorized with a Konni Hifner vintage-bead necklace. It's an outfit fit for that Scottsdale lunch. Add a Brighton bag and reservations at Roka Akor (order the shrimp!)

Two Plans Ahead: Swimming and Weddings--

Remember Delta Burke? You can feel comfortable at any resort pool in her bathing attire. Also, Longitude has a cute one-piece polka-dot-top suit with a modest little skirt, and Penbrooke has a zingy ruffle-front suit. For walking to the elevator or carpark, these can all be topped with a tuck-detailed, cotton long-sleeve throw by A People United.

Weddings! (I love saving the best for last!)

Weep into your hankie and dance for joy in a Lee Anderson unique creation. Fit for a Broadway entrance, Lee Anderson creations steal the show. They are duster dresses with jackets or panels made of Fortuny-looking crushed silken fabric in shimmering Caribbean green or soft taupe. Embroidered motifs, such as royal-purple irises or coral shapes, are worked into the garment in a mode stunningly reminiscent of antique French stitchery. The dresses have lace godet inserts and scattered beads and sequins. If you have the occasion-go for it big time!
